Abstract Organizational activities inside any organization have implicit difficulties regarding to manage people, environmental changes, activities etc. In order to facilitate the management of activities was developed the Balanced Scorecard a tool. This tool is focused on developing a framework within the organization that allows communicating and making understandable the organization’s strategy. Moreover, the Balanced Scorecard facilitates to select action programmes aligned to the organization’s strategy and finally the Balanced Scorecard allows monitoring the performance of the organization’s activities. Within this thesis is studied the Balanced Scorecard methodology and is made a theoretical evaluation of its advantages and disadvantages in order to considered possibilities to overcome the disadvantages. Possible ways to overcome some of the Balanced Scorecard disadvantages presented in this thesis are; to complement the Balanced Scorecard with the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) methodology and with an Intelligent System. The thesis studies both ways in order to know their possibilities to overcome the disadvantages of the Balanced Scorecard.
