||Karakterisering af TIG svejsninger i rustfrit

||This thesis includes a review of general knowledge of TIG welding of stainless steel collected through a literary study and the results analyses based on the performed experimental work.
As a part of the project is an analytic simulation of the temperature profiles has been carried out, for welding of tube shaped specimens in AISI 316L. This simulation is based on the solution made by Rosenthal and the heat affected zone is hereby determined to be in the range of 25 mm on each side of the welding.
An experimental setup has been developed as well as a test method for electrochemical investigation of the corrosion resistance. The experimental setup and test method made it possible to rank the weldings based on their corrosion resistance.
It was discovered that preliminary treatment such as grinding or contamination of the surface of the specimen did not have any influence on the corrosion resistance of the welding carried out in AISI 316L. At the same time it was discovered that welding made with backup shielding gas improves the corrosion resistance considerably. The corrosion rate declined with a factor 500.
