|Abstract||This master thesis is dealing with the vehicle scheduling problem (VSP). The VSP is a central part of a transportation company's operational planning, in order to control the cost and achieve the best possible service or profit.
Different kind of formulations is described, with focus on the MDVSP that is more relevant in practice, but also harder to solve.
A Multi Commodity Flow Model is formulated and implemented to solve the VSP for a Danish bus company in a medium size city.
Furthermore it is explored whether the vehicle schedule can be improved by chaning the timetable and solve the VSP simultaneously. For that purpose a Tabu Search algorithm is used, in combination with different kinds of changing strategies.
