Abstract This thesis formulates a grey-box model of the heat dynamics of an actual light building, placed at Risø DTU. The model is formulated as a lumped RC-model in accordance with the commonly used thermal-electrical analogy. The unknown physical parameters in the model are estimated by maximizing the likelihood function. After model estimation, the model is verified both in the time domain by the autocorrelation function and in the frequency domain by the cumulated periodogram. The identified model is then used to determine the optimal heat input, from electrical heaters,a in the building, due to a given price signal of electricity.
