||Brede database developed by Finn Årup Nielsen at DTU provides neuroscientific
related literature search using coordinate-based queries. Users are able to view
the article's abstracts as well as details of experiments described. Unfortunately
it suffers from performance issues and limited amount of articles in the database.
The goal of this thesis is to present work that has been done to improve the
performance and extend feature set of Brede database. This required a paradigm
change from XML text based approach to full relational database back-end.
The almost thirty-fold reduction of response time make room form additional
processing - new features can be added in future and still have delay acceptable
Few features that can be incorporated into the design are also investigated.
