Abstract In this thesis, we introduce a method capable of verifying, if a series of hand radiographs taken with an interval of approximately one year, origin from the same human or not. In order to verify a series of radiographs, an algorithm has been constructed that is able to distinguish, whether two radiographs captured, are from the same subject or from two different subjects. Using points obtained from an Active Appearance Model, the hands are divided into eight bones. In order to establish a common reference between each of the eight bones in two radiographs, a registration algorithm has been implemented. The registration algorithm is capable of performing a registration of two hand radiographs using either a rigid or non-rigid transformation scheme. Using parameters obtained from the registration, it is investigated, whether these can be used to distinguish between two radiographs of the same subject or two different subjects. Tests showed, that parameters obtained from a combination of a rigid and a non-rigid registration, resulted in the lowest classification error.
