Abstract Receptionists and information boards are among the most common ways of guiding and assisting people visiting organizations. The goal of this project is to develop software that can supplement or act in place of the two aforementioned approaches. This allows receptionists to put more effort in the complex tasks that require human intervention and relieves employees of keeping information boards up to date. Touch screens provide visitors with easy access to information they need. For some interactive tasks, such as sending messages, booking meetings and so on, the software is able to assist visitors in performing those tasks. As each screen has a fixed placement, the software is able to customize the displayed information based on the location. Furthermore, the software attempts to integrate with as many existing data sources for extracting information as possible. This reduces the amount of explicit interactions that employees need to have with the software. The final product will be used at the Department of Informatics and Mathematical Modelling, at the Technical University of Denmark. The department has invested in a large touch screen that will be placed at an entrance of Building 322.
