Abstract The aim of the present project was to develop a prototype system that presents information about trains departure and arrival times in Denmark. To obtain information about trains in Denmark in an accessible way you should sit in front of a PC but a PC is something only very few people have with them all the time. The aim was to develop a system for mobile phones in order to make it easier for users to review train informations while the amount of data is kept at an absolute minimum. Various scenarios created from use cases has been evaluated and analyzed in order to optimize the user experience with the program and display the screen sequence. Moreover, the prototype was compared with other existing solutions. The solution found in the project appears to be better in many areas, such as speed, ease of use and quantity of data compared to existing solutions. It was also pointed out that the chosen programming language J2ME has a lot problems and errors (bugs) in different phone models. These errors will make it difficult to realise the project in relation to a future release. However J2ME is still considered to be the best alternative to mobile phones if the program is to serve as many phone users as possible. The prototype shows to have promising concepts, and beyond the fact that it could be used on mobile phones the concepts would also suitable for several other information systems.
