Abstract In this thesis we take a look at dierent challenges facing Icelandair, a well established single hub-and-spoke airline, in their schedule planning process. The complexity of airline schedule planning is well known and dierent approaches have been proposed. Today this complexity has been mixed with increased levels of data uncertainty stemming from oil prices rising to unprecedented levels. In this thesis we apply the framework proposed by Lohatepanont and Barnhart[12] adapting it to Icelandair's environment. Dierent scenarios are examined and we also look at how Robust optimisation can be incorporated into the schedule design process. The results show that the framework, as applied, is quite well suited for decision support at strategic levels.
