Abstract The Tube between Svanemøllen and Copenhagen Central stations has long been a major bottleneck in the S-train system. The reason for this is the short headway time between trains in the Tube meaning high capacity consumption for the line. In turn the delays affect the line daily, causing extended travel time for passengers using the system. Consequently, this report will examine and analyze a timetable for a new S-train line through the Copenhagen city center. The new line will start at respectively at Ryparken and Emdrup stations providing connections to all the lines that are north of Copenhagen. The line will continue in tunnel and have stations at Vibenhus Runddel, Frederik Bajers Plads, Nørrebro, Forum and Copenhagen Central station. The tunnel will join to the existing network just before Dybbølsbro station, providing connections to all the S-train lines south of Copenhagen. The report will analyze a new timetable with respect to the graphical timetable, the capacity consumption, the punctuality, and the travel time. This study determines that capacity consumption for most parts of the S-train system is reduced, especially for the Tube line. In the past a high amount of timetable supplement was added to the timetable to account for delays in the Tube, in the new timetable it is possible to minimize this time and thus improve travel time for most parts of the network. When studying the punctuality by implying some delays at various stations the punctuality for the S-train system is significantly increased.
