Abstract The Technical University of Denmark is currently developing a student satellite, DTUsat-2. The satellite is to carry a student developed camera, PicoCam, designed for use in space. Up until now, the control software developed for DTUsat-2 has lacked a camera interface for handling communication with PicoCam, which lives up the current infrastructure of the onboard software. Requirements for such an interface are analysed in the current DTUsat-2 context. From this analysis a design is presented which form the basis of development. To ensure reliable operation a series of tests have been conducted. The result is a Camera Module handling both predefined camera operations, including saving images to Flash memory, while also being able carry out a user defined sequence of camera commands and the ability to send a raw byte sequences to the camera. During the project an extra effort has been made to extend the satellite software with a testing environment. Besides this, has a new packet interface, for inter module communication, been used for the first time.
