Abstract The assignment is to develop a software asset management client, which can gather system information on a Mac computer and send those to a website, through HTTP/HTTPS. The information should among other things include the results from a file scan, list of running processes, a list of available software applications, and the possibility of getting information about the underlying hardware and operating system. As the client is to run in the background without seeming annoying, it should use as few system ressources such as RAM and CPU as possible. At the same time there may be situations where the client needs to be "pushed" out to many machines, therefore the client should have a small footprint (file size). To live up to the above, the client is to be developed using C++. The development will be documented, in order for employees of LicenseWatch to continue the development.
