Abstract This report discusses the advantages and disadvantages of procedural level generation in games, focusing on puzzle games in particular. Solvability, variety and difficulty ratings are found to be the key requirements for level generators and different approaches to meet these are discussed. Additionally, the report analyzes, designs and implements a procedural level generator for the game A Mazing Monk and a solver for verification of the generated levels. These components are used to expand the game with two new games modes to illustrate the functionality of the level generator.
