Abstract The goal of the project is to develop a scalable search engine to use for data-files. The engine is build to read XML files from Digital Library and Bibliography Project, but is easily modified to other file-types. The search engine focus on improvement in the following order: query runtime, preprocessing runtime, space efficiency and functionality advancement. Every aspect of improvement is analysed theoretically and evaluated experimentally where any experiment that contradicts the theoretical analysis is given an explanation with qualitative answers.
