Abstract The purpose of this thesis is to get a comprehension of how cooling conditions affect the solidification structure of the magnesium alloy AZ91. Is known that microstructure is controlled by the heat flow. Changes in the heat transfer coefficient affect the heat flow and the temperature distribution.
