||Development of Calibration Standard for Optical Coordinate Measuring Machines

||The subject of this project is to investigate the possibilities for development of a new artifact for calibration of optical coordinate measuring machines.
The present report contains some of the basic procedures and tools which are needed to use when development of a new product is going to be executed.
The project is based upon the general procedures which are needed for obtaining a successful result in modern development of new products.
The report can roughly be divided in the following main areas:
Basic principles for measuring with CMM.
The construction of the machines and the types of probes are explained.
The general principles for measuring and traceability are explained.
Investigation of market and needs.
The market of brands and types of optical CMMs is investigated.
A survey of the use of optical CMMs in industry is carried out.
Existing methods and artifacts for calibration of CMMs are investigated.
Measurements and investigations done in laboratory.
Investigations of procedures for measuring and calibration are carried out in the laboratory.
A list with the basic specifications for the new standard (artifact) for calibration of optical CMMs is made on basis of the investigations.
The different possibilities for manufacturing of the product are investigated and evaluated.
Proposals for a new artifact.
Proposals for a new artifact are worked out and presented.
Evaluation of the proposals is done.
General principles for marketing management are explained in connection with the topical product.
An example for promotion is made.
