Abstract The objective of this report is to analyze the possibilities for E-takeaway to change their current fleet into a more environmentally conscious fleet. The basis of the report is that E-takeaway faces a decision on what to do with the fleet when the current deal expires in 2012. E-takeaway has therefore requested an investigation into the possibilities on how to meet their vision of being an environmentally friendly company through the upcoming change of fleet. The task at hand was to analyze the market situation and the expected customer reaction to this possible change.
The foodservice industry is analyzed as to gain an insight in the industry that E-takeaway operates in. This is done by collecting secondary data in form of a report from Datamonitor. In the report it is concluded that the industry is growing steadily despite the current financial crisis, and the takeaway segment, which E-takeaway belongs to, is even expected to increase market shares within the industry .
The customer research is based on primary data through an online questionnaire. It showed that the customers want greener delivery, although only without any extra costs.
Following a thorough analysis of the alternative fleet quotes, the Nissan Leaf is recommended as it is the most environmentally friendly car, and only cost 6.9% more than the quote to continue with the current fleet. Thus E-takeaway can fulfill their vision without extra costs for the customers. The fleet research is based on primary data as all the quotes were collected for this project.
It is recommended that the new E-takeaway profile is promoted, by promoting the E-takeaway brand, as it is not widely recognized. Therefore a combination of different promoting strategies is recommended to E-takeaway as to insure future success.
