|Abstract||Littelfuse® SELCO provides Alarm Monitoring Systems to the Maritime industry e.g. the shipping industry. The purpose of this thesis was to build a business case for Littelfuse® SELCO, by examining the market for Alarm Monitoring Systems. The main intention of this thesis was to optimise Littelfuse® SELCO’s products M1000 and M3000, since these have not been developed since the 1980’s. The main goal was to improve the applications and functionality of the Alarm Monitoring Systems.
The market research was conducted based on secondary and primary sources, such as consultations and interviews with professionals from the Maritime industry. Moreover, a customer survey was sent out to Littelfuse® SELCO’s customer base to gain knowledge about their needs and buying criteria’s for the Alarm Monitoring Systems. From the researched data the project team was able of determining the basic functions required to improve the Alarm Monitoring Systems.
Additionally the project team has also included marketing, technological and economic feasibilities for optimizing and implementing the new generation of Alarm Monitoring Systems. The main analysis in the thesis was to examine the viability of the optimized Alarm Monitoring Systems in order to verify the feasibility study.
