|Abstract||The main purpose of this project is to investigate the possibility of NKT Flexibles to operate onshore.
The study which has been conducted includes the process of finding out what industry and market will be most suitable for NKTF’s flexible pipes and which technical changes are necessary to operate onshore in the given market. Furthermore, whether or not it will be profitable for NKTF and if so, how it will be implemented to the onshore market.
After much research, the oil and gas industry has been chosen. Saudi Arabia has been chosen to be the operating country.
The design of the onshore flexible solution will consist of three layers. An inner liner made by High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), a middle layer made by Stainless Steel 316 and an outer sheath made by Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE). The pipe will be corrosion and H2S resistant as well as tolerate high and low temperatures.
The study has shown that it will be profitable in year 4 and will in the years to come continue to grow.
Implementing this product onshore will be through a Saudi Arabian agent who can establish a relationship to the target customer.
The acquisition by the National Oilwell Varco (NOV) took place in February 2012 and will thereby give NKTF opportunities to expand to other segments.
