|Abstract||A floating high voltage power supply was constructed.
The first stage of the converter is a 490 V Power factor regulated boost converter operating at the mains supply. The second stage is a phase shifted full bridge isolated step-up converter, the output voltage can be controlled externally up to 2.8 kV.
ZVT technique is used in the full bridge.
A total efficiency of 88 % when charging the output capacitor from 0 - 2 kV was achieved.
The charging time from 0-2 kV is 94 ms.
The design is presented in theory, in simulation and by test on a lab prototype.
