Abstract The company has over the past 50 years become one of the leading companies within development, manufacture, and distribution of technologically advanced acute care solutions. The company's fundamental goal is to deliver quality-assurance products to customers. The quality of the products cannot fail, as it may affect the patient's health and, at worst, the patient’s life. Quality is the most important factor in the company, which has a great effect on the daily decision-making processes so the right decisions are taken. One of the company’s branches has experienced difficulties in maintaining the quality of the manufacturing of the product. In order to ensure the company’s quality-objective, the production on parameter is measured, Defects Per Unit (DPU). This provides the number of errors per produced unit, and is the branches’ most important Key Performance Indicator (KPI). The current DPU value is 2.1, which results in a gap of 0.6 DPU since the target DPU value is 1.5. In accordance with the statement above, it is examined whether the DPU-value can be minimized. After applying the Pareto tool the categories of errors, assembly- and operator errors became clearer, as being the highest frequent error-categories, as a result of internal procedures. The underlying causes of the most frequent types of errors were clarified by using 5 x why-tool. By using the established Poka Yoke solutions, the possibility of the occurrence of most of the types of errors, can be eliminated. In addition, an effort by management, to remedy the majority of operator errors arising out of an unsustainable work performance in production, could further be of assistance. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:0cm;&lt;br />&lt;/div>&lt;div>margin-left:7.1pt;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align:justify;line-height:150%"> The proposed solutions will contribute to a reduction of the current DPU-value  at 2.1 with 22%, resulting in a DPU-value on 1.67 DPU. Furthermore, the elimination of errors will result in more time for other activities, rather than the time spent in the making of corrective actions. The total cost of the proposed solutions, amount to approximately DKK 95,000.
