|Abstract||In a world where environmental friendliness enhances a company’s reputation and image, boosts its competitiveness, and minimizes the impact of day to day operations, Nilfisk Advance A/S has decided to join the eco-friendly movement in their line of street sweepers by making a new design that uses an electric motor instead of using a typical diesel engine.
The purpose of this project is to investigate how to develop an eco-friendly new street sweeper system where new elements that can enhance the machine altogether are introduced. This new model includes a waste container, a filtration system as well as a noise control system.
This paper gives a particular attention to the airflow (volumetric mean velocity) throughout the system. As such, after the conducted study, the paper presents Comsol Multiphysics simulation results to ascertain the validity of the proposed design.
Finally, a model is built and tested to verify that the obtained system is in fact efficient and realistic.
This project represents the first step towards manufacturing a new line of street sweepers from Nilfisk Advance A/S that are consistent with the company’s environmental friendliness strategic plan.
