|Abstract||HIMSA have long contemplated about the idea of applying cloud computing to their software and offering storage to their customers. HIMSA expect to draw on the benefits of the cloud to its fullest, as they do not want to deal with the management or maintenance of the cloud, but wishes to outsource these tasks.
The low requirements HIMSA have toward the configuration of the cloud leads to a recommendation of the Software-as-a-Service cloud platform in a public cloud, where HIMSA would only need to decide upon which software to use when developing software in the cloud. Further, the public cloud allows for easy network configurations, because only internet access is needed. HIMSA, does unfortunately, face difficulties with the deployment of their cloud. As legislation regarding storing personal data online are strict and differs from region to region. The architecture of a cloud that fulfils the legislation can very well prove to be incredibly complex.
Moving their software into the cloud proposes new administrative tasks for HIMSA, most important of which are the changes in the business model. Therefore, are two possible business models presented. The first is similar to the original HIMSA business model, while the second model proposes new customer segments, payment models, and support issues.. Implementing cloud to HIMSA proposes new administrative tasks, change in work processes, and a change in the budget. The new administrative tasks that arise can, however, easily be incorporated into the present tasks. Also, the technical cloud related work tasks could easily be assigned to the technical personal. Furthermore, cloud proposes new entries in the budget, both when regarding costs and revenue. All in all, model one is recommended, as it is easier implemented into the HIMSA business as it can be done with out restructuring the present business model
