Abstract In this final bachelor project, an implementation of the Zigbee IEEE 802.15.4 receiver is presented using software defined radio. The Zigbee technology is a low data rate, low power consumption, low cost, wireless networking protocol. The advent of software radios has enabled the implementation of software defined radios with great flexibility and re-usability. With the aid of GNU radio,an open source software tool, and the USRP (the universal software radio peripheral) as hardware support; a software application for the IEEE 802.15.4 sniffer , primarily built as a IEEE 802.15.4 receiver, is built on a personal computer running on Ubuntu 10.10. The work was done as a project at the CWSA, the center for wireless systems and applications, at Copenhagen University College of Engineering (IHK).
